The Royal Road of Friendships

It has been 108 hours since I descended into a sleep so deep that a surgeon was able to slice into me, saw off bones and literally hammer metal parts into the remaining bones, without my being aware.  Of those 108 hours I conservatively think I have continued to sleep somewhere near 88 hours.  It has been very nice. Thanks for wondering.  Unlike those first three hours the remaining hours have been filled with dreams.  I have been everything this week and with a host of friends.  If you consider me one of your friends I have most likely spent some meaningful time with you this week.  Thanks for being nice to me.

Being that I am not a prophet, I have had no Daniel and Revelation experiences. There have been no monsters with four heads nor have there been angels pouring out vials upon earth.  When I awaken I roll over anxious to once again sleep as I wonder who will appear this time.  What friend will visit?  Where will we be?  Freud once called dreams the royal road to the unconscious.  I have been on the royal road of friendships.

Life really has little to do with things and so much to do with relationships.  He who cares about others will himself be cared for. Solomon said, “Cast your bread upon the waters and after many days it will return.”  I cannot but appreciate the depths of wisdom from which this is drawn.  Reach out to renew and enrich relationships. The great gifts we have to share with each other are care and a rich desire for others to prosper and do well.
